Dwell on Design 2013 – Passport to Design Contest
Earlier this summer I went to the Dwell on Design show in Los Angeles. The show was interesting – lots of inspiring design, products and talks. Really enjoyed hearing Michael Graves give his keynote address, learning about the secrets of the Dwell photo shoot from the Dwell’s creative director Alejandro Chavetta and hearing Ray Eames’ grandson talk about her career and major contributions to modern design.
And…I discovered a really cool program called vividAR by vivid works. Basically you can take a photo of a space and insert items (from an albeit limited library) to create mock layouts for the space – very cool. Super easy to work with and once all the kinks have been worked out it has the potential to allow people to design their own space with relative ease. (No designer required…yikes!)
There was a contest using the program going on at the show, so I entered my design….and much to my surprise I received 2nd prize, winning an iPad mini and $1000! Pretty cool. Here’s a link to the contest results and a photo of my design.
